That is great to hear about the astigmatism, as my far vision is now 20/20 except for astigmatism in my left eye. I sometimes wonder why I wear glasses in the day time at all, but after wearing glasses all my life, 20/80 until the last few years, I feel undressed/unsafe without them. I'll have to get over that feeling.
What I'd like to see is the near vision cure itself. I can't even eat without my glasses on. "We can hope, can't we?"

I found out my near vision got better at my last visit by a little bit (the distance also improved in my right eye and was slightly worse in the left). The doctor did not want to change the prescription telling me that I had gotten used to the stronger lenses for reading and that my slight headache/dizziness was probably not the glasses. But since getting the glasses on Thursday the slight headache, which I've had for two months, is gone. Could be a coincidence... but maybe not.
Usually near vision does not get better as we get older, eh?

Sunday is my 3 year MP anniversary. Hmmm.....
Well I no longer feel like I am going to die any moment, which I did pre-MP. Many of you have heard me talk about feeling like the grim reaper was breathing down my neck.
I am not much further along when it comes to energy except that I tend to be able to sit up--without and incline--for longer periods of time. That is, pre-MP I had to lie flat most of the time and couldn't even spend more than 10 or 20 minutes at a time on my recliner. Within 6 months that had bumped up to 8 to 12 hours a day--sometimes straight through (a tremendous quality of life improvement). So that improvement--being able to sit up without an incline is what I have experienced since that first bit of improvement.
Also, though I usually only run about one errand a week, if that, and visit my mother twice a week. I usually can make it through most or all of the errand with out feeling like I am going to pass out.
The best news has been in the reduction of pain that I felt after the first two years, which were unbelievable (but I made it through) and pre-MP. So pain levels are down.
Also, my labs showed no anemia for the last three months and my BUN had moved into the normal range. Creatinine and liver labs are still high and I hope they come down in the next 3 to 4 months, as I've yet to move on to Phase 2. My next set of lab tests are scheduled for the 11th and my fingers are crossed. (When I tried Phase 2, my kidneys labs got ridiculously high, and I did not want to risk dealing with emergency rooms for some other palliation for out of control IP only to have the doctors take my Benicar from me..... So I've been playing it safe rather than sorry.)
One big thing happened just yesterday morning, I was lying in bed thinking about something I purchased that ended up costing about $6.50. I had gotten about 40% off, then $10 off, then 15% off, and I was able to see the algebraic equation needed to come up with X, the original price. Now, my brain is not normally that clear, but has been fogged enough since my mid 20s not to be able to do that (about 30 years ago)... ever. To have that come to me out of the blue felt like a blessing. Okay... maybe I am totally senile now and can only remember things from my youth, algebra being one of them.
So, all in all, my quality life is better AND I have met some of the most fabulous people I have ever met in my life right here on this site.
Bless you all and thank you Dr. Marshall and everyone else who has contributed in any way, including all of you who took the risk to participate in the cohort to help us learn how to manage IP better.

ahhhhhhhhhh Claire, ya just gotta love those moments of true clarity .... I used to study and study sales receipts hoping they were correct NOW I can actually figure out if they are or not ..LOL! With store cards, mfg coupons and in store sales it takes a "bug-free" mind to figure it .... Lee

Yea Ken! And I've seen by your posts on other threads that you are doing well. Are you willing to share a brief update?

Brief update: Not sick.
Slightly longer update: I have not had any Abx since the early spring. Benicar 2 or 3 times a day (mostly 2). Generally no symptoms. Occasionally if I get too much sunlight exposure to my eyes, then I will be somewhat fatigued and tinnitus will start ringing. That only lasts less than a day. I still avoid vitamin D supplemented items, but my only sun avoidance is for my eyes. I find sunglasses are still a necessity. I have been spending a lot of time outdoors, working, kayaking, spear throwing. Yes, you read that correctly, I throw spears with a spear thrower (Atlatl). There is even a world association and competitions. I guess I must have inherited some genes from my mammoth hunter ancestors because I am getting pretty good.

Amazing! And I include spear throwing in that!
Let us know when you are able to ditch the sunglasses.

Well folks, I've been waiting a whole year to post this--
Today is my first anniversary on the MP!!!!
Yep, one entire year on Benicar and lots of steady improvements occurring along the way. Maybe in another year I'll think about some abx if I need them. But, for now, steady IPs bordering on intolerable at times will keep me on a Benicar only path toward health.
Ah, the joys of honoring the passage of time well spent.

Congratulations!!! I am so glad to have the opportunity to watch someone on the path that you've chosen. (I may join you on Benicar only if my current experiment does not work.)
Hugs, Claire

Thanks guys,
It's kind of like celebrating a birthday--I don't feel any older (or in this case, better), but it's nice to acknowledge the passage of time on such an important journey.

HI ALL
This is Fred in WV. I have 2 aniversities to tell about today.
First - Today makes 1year without and ABXs. Last ABX was on May 2,
2009. I have been getting lots of IP without them. But may try
some ABXs a little later this year.
Second - Tomorrow will be my 5 year aniversity being on the full Marshall
Protocol. I did take Benicar only at 20mg/6hours for almost one
year before being able to get my doctor to go for the MP.
So 5 years later I am moving on with the Marshall Protocol. Thank you Dr Marshall for the Marshall Protocol and my great health.
Remember, we are all in this together and I am pulling for us.

Congrats Freddie! Your continued improvement is an inspiration to me!!! I just keep trying to remember it is only time and in time I'll be six years on the MP (that is, 2 years and 7 months from now), and hopefully by then, I will be feeling as well as you are.
Keep up the good work!!!
Claire

I might have posted to celebrate my anniversary of 18 months on MP, but was unexpectedly totally lacking in get-up-and-go-up-the-stairs, as well as 4 months sleep deprived (have now backed off Zith and lower bactrim so am celebrating 6 hours continuous sleep last night).
Many Happy Returns (of optimism)

I hit my second MP anniversary this weekend, and here I am in Year 3 already, I can hardly believe it . Those who have seen my reports will know I had a tough time in phase 2 with 2 abx, so have been on Olmetec only since April last year. Plenty of IP still, so I'm happy that my immune system is still in search and destroy mode. I'm happy with that, and I feel it's enough to be going on with.
Here's to all of us on the MP, with special thanks to Dr Marshall, the research team, moderators and MP friends. I've appreciated everyone's help and support, and as a singleton it has made all the difference to me.
