I thought it might be fun if we could talk about the funniest/most humorous things we have experienced on the MP.
Not easy when there are so many things to be "bummed" about, especially when you are new to the lifestyle.
I think the funniest thing for me is that since things are dark in the house and I wear NOIRs inside, my black standard poodles have a whole new respect to me. The poodles are so black and blend into the carpet that I have stumbled into them quite a few times. This has given them a whole new take on me!
They haven't been hurt or anything, but they do move awfully quick when they see me coming through a door now....
It's good for them anyhow since moving around a dog makes them think they are higher up on the ladder than you. Because my dogs work as service dogs for me, I have never really been that into imposing my "superiority" since they work for me and they naturally know who's the boss is, so to speak (and according to them, since they are so "smart" and have to lead that "dumb" woman around and do things for her all the time, it is obviously they! ha ha).

I had a kid at an adult party (grandchild of the host) tell me in front of everyone that I looked like Willie Wonka (a far cry from what a young woman told me--"You have the Audrey Hepburn thing going on). That lead to nearly everyone chirping in with their own ideas, "Greta Garbo," "Spy versus Spy," etc.
Claire
PS ... I live in an area heaviliy populated by Mennonites where the Mennonites (depending on the order) dress far differently than the rest of the population. (If you don't know about Mennonites, Amish dress reflects the most conservative order, including the horse and buggies.) The kids, I imagine, are sort of used to standing out when they go into public. At any rate, I've had a number of really young girls (10 and under) look at me with such probing delight (can't take their eyes off of me)...I can just see the wheels cranking in their heads. I am certain that it may be one of their first experiences encountering someone who stands out more than them based on how she is dressed.

Yeah, most people just assume I am blind because of the two service dogs in public. Last fall I got a traffic ticket because my plates on my car hadn't been updated yet (I had just talked the DMV and they told me to wait until Thanksgiving was over and to call (this was thanksgiving week).
So, I'm driving out of town, and don't you know about an hour out of town I get pulled over. I explain who I had moved recently, that the tags didn't come in the mail, and that the DMV told me I should wait until Monday. The cop tells me, well, how do I know you have the tags but you just didn't put them on yet? DUH!.... why would anyone do that??
The funniest part is coming up. I decided to fight the ticket. Go back to the town (which happens to be the state capital of Michigan) and meet with the assistant prosecutor. Both dogs were working that day and lying under the table. She acknowledges them and asks if they are guide dogs!!!(Guide dogs work only for the blind, all other dogs are known by what tasks they perform (hearing dog, seizure alert, etc) or simply "service dog.")
I was wearing super dark glasses and have two dogs, so she assumed I was blind. But she was forgetting the whole reason I was there, because "I" got a driving ticket. I told her no, they weren't guide dogs but specialized service dogs for my disability.
What I wanted to tell her was, "yeah, that one there, he tells me when to stop or slow down when I'm driving, and the other can tell me when to turn right or left..." ha ha ha
The other thing is that while people assume I am blind now, they do things that you would not do with someone who is blind. Whatever. I'm sure it freaks a few people at the stores when I get out of a car I am driving and take the two dogs in.....because they are assuming a blind person just drove himself to the store....

HI ALL
This is Fred in WV. I do not know if this is "FUNNY" but I would like to know how many time I have been ask if I have had eye surgery. Well I do like to talk a lot and tell every one about the MP and how it is working for me. So I use this when people ask me about eye surgery, I can then tell them why I wear them. So I use wearing the NoIR glasses to tell people about the MP. I start by telling them that we are getting too much vit-D and I wear teh glasses to block out light to prevent it. They all seem to understand the MP better if I tell them that how the bactiera lives on the vit-D and how the new people are pushing vit-D is all wrong and is killing people with cancer and heart diseases.
Remember, we are all in this together and I am pulling for us.
Your friend in Sarcoidosis
Freddie

I have a great story.
I'd heard many stories of neuro-herx/IP causing a skin crawling feeling. I'd had it a few times in small patches (say, on my hands or the top of my arm).
One night I was trying to sleep & I felt it all over my arms, and then my face. I tried to ignore it and go to sleep... but it wouldn't go away. Eventually I'd been unable to sleep so long that I got up to use the bathroom.
When I turned my lamp on I saw that there were actually ants crawling all over my arms and face and down my top & smothering my bed!
Horrible, but hilarious. Now I always check.. just in case.

Natalie,
Your story was hilarious! I remember reading about the *bugs* early on in the MP, the skin crawling feeling and have only experienced myself a couple of times. What a shock to wake up to something that was not IP!!!!!!

Natalie,
"An increase in any symptom that correlates with MP therapy is probably due to immunopathology." In other words, anything nasty is always, by definition, IP. It follows that your Th1 brain was only imagining the ants, because your Th1 eyes were sending false messages to it. Ants on the amygdala is a common Th1 symptom. The MP will resolve the ant problem. Did you increase your Benicar?

Very funny Julia hahahaha .
It was a shock! It was at a time I was trying to teach myself not to be alarmed by anything too (prior to that time I was always checking to make sure it wasn't something that wasn't IP).

Well, Natalie, at least it wasn't a big, furry Huntsman spider... I would have heard you screaming like a girl over here in Perth!
I had one in my bedroom a while back, that I tried to catch, but it eluded me and hid behind the wardrobe. I was very concerned that it would come out while I was asleep and crawl over my face...
Regards, Zars

Sorry Claire!
Zars - Haha huntsmans don't scare me as much as white tails.. before I 'got sick', a huge white tail crawled into bed with me while I was sleeping & bit me.. now every time I feel any sort of tingling on my legs at night I freak out it's a white tail coming to bite me again. It hurts!

This isn't my story but one I read in somebody's thread. He was decked out in his MP garb and feeling self conscious about it when he entered a store just as the instore music started up with "Secret Agent Man". Now that is funny.

Jan, I love that story! Thanks for sharing. I don't know if I'll get that tune out of my head now..."Secret agent man, secret agent man...."

OK, first... Zars, Natalie IS a girl, so "screaming like a girl", well of course.
But hmmm, great thread. I've been told by a co-worker to take my glasses off while getting dressed. Reason? I was wearing a blue and a black sock. At least it was not a co-worker to tell me I had my undies on inside out.
But best of all, I'd been toying with the idea of not wearing my black scarf under my hat as a face mask. It's hot, but mostly, I look like the grim reaper in it. I've been looking for the fabled invisible zinc oxide with no luck. So, a few days ago, I'm walking home from work. Now that classes have started, campus is full of students and I am facing stares that I had mercifully been spared these last two months. A girl on a bike coming at me gives wide berth on the sidewalk. At the last minute, I see her swivel her head around to look at me. OK, no big deal. Then I heard a kind of crash and turned to see that she had bit the edge of the walkway and fallen in the grass. Fortunately, she did not fall into street traffic. That was when I decided, zinc oxide or no, I would no longer wear my face mask. I don't want to be responsible for someone's death. I'll take more symptoms or take longer to get well, but no more looking like a freak.

OK, Natalie, I'm kinda sorry to hear about your ant experience, although I'm glad you were able to have a little laugh about it afterwards.
But Julia, the "ants on the amygdala...did you increase your Benicar?" comments just sent me into hysterics! Thanks for the best laugh I've had in a long, long, long time!
TOO FUNNY!!!
I'll try to pull a funny out of my IP handicapped memory and share a laugh with you all as soon as I can remember one. In the mean time, thanks for the HUGE LAUGHS!!!
