Wow!  Great to hear!

Acually, I'm thinking of a lampshade shift so you can take your clothes off and wear a lampshade AND not get arrested.  Think of the possibilities...

As I was posting I realized my signature line had not been updated...

This has changed from "homebound;not working"

.......to "working"!

Certainly grateful for the MP!:D

My husband woke me up at 1:00a.m. when he came home from work and we turned on the news to watch the horrific plane crash in Buffalo.

I was so grateful for the heroic events which took place on the Hudson River just a few short weeks ago and the safety of all of those on board.  I am also grateful for the strict rules that the FAA requires us all to adhere to in order to make air travel as safe as it is here in the U.S.  These most recent air crashes have been of just a very few, in many, many years.

I'm very saddened by the loss of these lives, civilians and crew members of the Continental Flight.  Continental is owned by Colgan Air, whose investor is the company that I work for, under the name of Pinnacle Airlines.  We fly for NWAirlink or now, that the merger has occurred between Northwest and Delta, Delta Connection.

Please keep all of these victims and their families and friends in your prayers.  There were no survivors.  All 48 on board have lost their lives.  One of those who lost their life, was a widow of 9/11.  She was a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. to further the investigation on the 9/11 attacks. Her husband was from Buffalo and she was on Flt 3407 headed to Buffalo to celebrate his "58th" Birthday with his family.   :(  I guess today's IP will seem rather irrelevant to what others are suffering with!

Very sad.  My daughter flew out of Buffalo on one of those small flights when she came home for Christmas break (she usually flies out of Syracuse).  Somehow, it feels awfully close to home.

It is such a tragedy after the triumph of the Hudson River landing.

This morning I am very grateful...for a couple of reasons...

First, my Inflight manager left me a message yesterday that I qualify due to my seniority for part time!!! Yay!!!  This was my goal, to get myself through training, back to work and work through full time long enough to go part time.  I will keep my flying benefits yet work only 3-6 days per month, which will give me an easier time on the protocol.  Flying while having IP during ramping can be a bit of a challenge:P...so I was thrilled to get the message!

Secondly, yesterday I had this lovely older gentleman, in his early 80's on my flight who went into medical distress right after we landed.  It was a godsend that we were on the ground as I believe he was having a stroke.  I found him on my way up the jetbridge from leaving the aircraft.  He was trying to pull his bag yet was almost collapsed.  It was very tense to say the least as he was going in and out but trying to communicate the whole time.  He happened to be a doctor himself--EMT arrived within 5-7 minutes from the time I found him and he was rushed to the hospital.  As of this morning I don't know his conditionl I was so very thankful that my captain was near when I yelled for assistance and that we were on the ground in order to get this gentleman the best possible care in the shortest amount of time.  As you probably know, in the air we would have lost precious time getting medical care for this gentleman!

Grateful!!

Congratulations Deb, you have reached your goal!

Maybe you can teach us all how to reach our goals. ;)

And maybe you saved some body's life the other day. :)
Let us know how he progresses.

Next time, give the person in stoke debut, some minocycline, best thing ever for the beginning of a stroke, according to some Israeli researches. :)
It lessens the damage, they say. Cant bother about finding the paper right now, but it is well spread.

Thank you Lottis for your advice!  I remember reading that too about Mino...unfortunately, we are not allowed as airline employees to administer any type of medications to passengers:( :( other than basic aspirin!

Thanks for your kind words...

I was listening last night to Dr. Dyer (or Dwyer) anyhoo, he is a believer in "intention" and that whatever we desire for ourselves, in time will be ours. I enjoyed listening to him and feel that we are more intuitive with this than we all realize...otherwise, how would so many of us have found the MP in the first place!!!!

Take care!  Deb

Update!  Was able to get a phone number to check on the condition of my passenger, for those of you interested...He spoke with me on the phone.  He had a pacemaker and a stint put in and sounded cheery.  BTW, when I spoke with his wife, she gave me her daughters cell phone number to call---her name--Debbie!  I was thrilled to hear he had rallied.

Good going Deb, and good to follow up!  Thanks for the cheerful update.

Now I will take the time to say that I am grateful that Eric and his son are in my life as roommates.  My ex, who always wanted more people in the house because she was raised with lots of sibs and who always laughed at me for being overly prepared for our almost non-existant overnight visitors, is now living in an apartment on her own while I am forging a family of sorts and even have overnight visitors on a regular basis (Eric's finance, a good friend of mine, and his daughter), and so my stores of stuff for guests have come in handy.  Odd how things turn out.

I have much to be grateful for.

Claire

Deb and Claire,

It is great to see both of your posts! Congrats Deb on getting through the full time work and making it to the part time status with bennies as you desired!! And it is wonderful news about the passenger and his recovery! He is really lucky you were on the ground!

Claire, it's great to hear you have some fun activity in your home! What a wonderful thing to have company and friends around. I've been so busy I've been just keeping my head above water at work. I'm on spring break and am wishing I had another week! This one is flying by.

Michele

Michele and Lynn,

Your posts were delightful!:D Your support is tremendous...spring break, ahhhhh doesn't that bring back memories when my teenagers wanted to go places exciting like Cancun and I reeled them back to something  that I considered "sensible" like Panama City...which looking back wasn't sensible at all!  lol...Aaaaahhh, spring break!  Our son was a study-holic, never worried about what time he came in or where he was...now our two daughters made up for his stability!  Our oldest daughter (who is younger than our son) decided she wanted to go to Cancun for spring break...I was absolutely against it as she was not only still in high school but the youngest of the bunch, meaning she was still 17 at the time...it was a challenge convincing her that Florida would be just as fun...but keep in mind when we were helping with $$$ for the trip, we had a little more persuasion...

Ahhhh, and so when the time came for her younger sister to want to go to Cancun I had no problems at all....her older sister was now a wise and steady 21 year old, who said, "Absolutely not is her baby sister going to Cancun"!!! The Circle of Life, amazing isn't it?!!

Deb

I really love this Gratitude Thread...It gives us a place to recognize what healing steps have taken place on this MP journey...

So, here I am posting!  Easter  is the Holiday that my family has traditionally hosted for years in our home.  In 2007, I was on steroids due to my Sarc flare and had a total meltdown in front of my children, husband and brother.  It was Easter morning and I was trying to pull together dinner for our usual guests of around 30...I was in denial and so was my family of how sick I was.  Luckily, we have a real sense of humor in my family and it has become a time honored joke amongst us..."Easter Meltdown" as it's referred to...I mean here it is Easter morning, in the Christian community one of the most sacred times of the year...and I've got F-bombs coming out of my mouth like fireworks on the fourth of July!!!

In 2008, again, I was going to try to keep this tradition alive in our home but just knew I was unable to manage, even with my families help.  There was just no way...just thinking about it sucked what very small amount of energy I had right out of me!  So, I asked my husbands sister to "sponsor" me and spent the day in her darkened finished basement on the couch...covered up...resting...ahhhhhh, that was perfect though!

This year, we are having Easter at the Grabetz house!!!  ...and I don't even mind sharing with you, that as I write this I have tears streaming down my face!  This is how much gratitude I feel in my heart for the progress I've made in these last two years on the MP!!!!!!  My long time friend came over yesterday and cleaned all of my carpets for me (I dumped the dirty buckets!)...two days ago, I spent much of the day putting together Easter baskets for friends and family...today I plan on putting the finishing touches on the cleaning...tomorrow is grocery shopping...and by Sunday we will be enjoying our guests!

There are a couple things I've learned along this healing journey...the first and most important...I finally after many years am putting myself first and taking care of ME...raising three kids, working full time, with a lot of committment to friends and family through these many years...I never knew how to take care of me!  Becoming ill changes all that...not that I've gotten selfish, I'm just aware that there will be times where I must come first!  Wow, what an awakening this has been...

I've also recognized how sour my brain has been for many years and how although I thought I was managing, how tough it has been.  Getting ready for Easter this year, I realized how much clearer my thinking is---how my organizational skills have returned---my brain is not throwing off all these short-circuited signals that I've been used to for so many years, thus bringing in the frustration and overload response that I've often felt. Like having ADD or something... So my gratitude this Easter weekend is for the possibilities that have become mine, from my progress on the MP!

This healing does not happen quickly or by our own wishes...it takes patience, fortitude and the will to want to get well, along with strict adherence to the MP guidelines...may continued healing belong to each and every one of us...

Happy Spring!

I am grateful that the Spring has arrived and the snow finally stopped coming for four day visits.  The trees are finally leafing, tulips are up, and the saskatoon bushes are in flower.  The grass seed Martin put down on our bare lawn, both last Fall before the snow and again a week ago... well, that hasn't sprouted.  Just to let you know how cold it still is here.

But the birds are building nests and singing mating songs, butterflies have arrived, and all winter gear has been put away.  So that's all good.

I'm also grateful because our dog Emma, who has been a really tough dog to train, has transformed into a dog almost ready for certification to be an assistant dog.  Something I could NEVER have imagined for her!  She'd been always looking at her brother Al for direction instead of paying attention to the humans in the house.  And as he had a brain tumour..... oh, yeah... not so calm.  Her obedience level is stunning and she's become a real joy to have around.

It is, isn't it?  I thought we were going to be stuck with this lump of hairy trouble until it was her turn to pass on, but what a joy she's turning out to be!

I wish we could have gotten Al onto the MP, maybe his brain tumour would have shrunk and he'd still be with us.  He was a great dog.  My favourite so far.  It's a shame that dogs don't live as long as people, eh?

You are so right about that Juanita.  Our almost 14 year old Yorkie is struggling right now to the point my hubby and I are wondering if we should have her put down. It is such a tough decision.  She is a part of our family...little Chloe...only 6# 1 oz and the most lovable little thing.  You can imagine our distress!
