Knochen,

That would be great...honestly, I would've given anything to be wearing that T-shirt during my worst herxing days...That cartoon had a way of cheering me up!

Talk with you later...Deb

I think t-shirts are a great idea.  Any way that we can get the word out about the MP and what it can do for people will be good.

Well, the cat talks that way because he is a cat!  He doesn't really know how to spell. :D

It's not really an accent, it's more a continuation of a "tradition" that started when the cartoonist came up with these characters. He based them on something called the "LOL Cats" which are, an internet phenomenon.  See some of the original items at http://www.lolcats.com/1/ and you will see the misspellings. Somehow, the fractured English makes them funnier.

The cartoons started as a joke that Adam Koford (also known as Ape Lad) came up with when there were internet arguments about who first invented the LOL Cats.  He drew these "antique" cartoons, and claimed they had been done by his grandfather back around the year 1900.  It took off from there.  You can see dozens of his cartoons here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/apelad/sets/72157600296941365/
(Nobody ever took him seriously, it was obviously a joke right from the beginning, but the early style was very well done, so he continued to make more of them, as well as embellishing the story about his grandfather)

I fell in love with these early on, and asked if he would draw one specifically to cheer up people on the MP, and he did just that.  I still can't thank him enough for being so nice and making such a perfect cartoon.  I came up with the idea after I saw this cartoon:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/apelad/578717505/  (FYI, a "Stogie" is a cigar)

I'm so glad you like it.  It still makes me smile every time I see it.  And some days I have been known to say "Not so gret, aktully" when the herx was bad. ;)

Yes, Top Cat is very similar! Although I think he's more "cool" than "hobo"

Glad you liked the background story on this cartoon.

Here's a corrected URL for the original inspirational cartoon with the stogie.

YES..Great ideas!  As an educator, I think this is an excellent way to 'break the ice' and educate others.  When I wear my supplemental oxygen to hockey games, it seems only the children have the courage to ask the questions the adults are thinking!  I would be very happy to wear my "heart" on my sleeve...so to speak.  Sue

Once I am well, I think having a "I survived the Marshal Protocol" t-shirt would make a good reward, given that we have to manage a cytokine storm.  (You know, sort of like a hurricaine t-shirt.)

Hi Deb and everyone,

Would just like to say that I would most definitely be interested in purchasing humourus fitted T-shirts (great to wear with jeans), with relevant cartoons or slogans on (adore the herxing cat), oversize T-shirts for use as nightwear and pins/badges. Great idea:D;) and a fantastic cause:cool:;):D.

I think this is a wonderful idea and it really excites me.  I would buy mugs and long sleeved shirts, especially with a variety of saying of You Know You Have Th1 If.... as I live with a Jeff Foxworthy fan and I'd like my own sayings.  :D

You know you have Th1 if you are having trouble reading this shirt.

I love that idea!

How about some "Vitamin" D education as well?  A t-shirt that says "Vitamin D is a steroid not a vitamin"  Or "Vitamin D is not a vitamin; it is...."  Then, the URL for Amy's list of Vit D myths.  Perhaps ask Amy/Paul to create another shorter URL for that paper with links to the research, her site, and the MP.

You know Juanita that is a great suggestion.  Th1 is not such a recognizable disease, the way it presents itself so systemically, we all have been round and round with our docs in finding a true dx.  I really like that.  There is a posting that I put out long ago, I believe when I was in Phase I with those sayings.  A good way to put the MP out there...

Love the idea of a long sleeve t-shirt.  I'm on the coast of NC and currently its 91.  I was at a t-ball game earlier and answered the question for the millionth time "Aren't you hot in that?" as I sport a sweatshirt and jeans, while everyone else is nearly down to their underwear.  I would love a shirt explaining that yes I am roasting and absolutely couldn't be happier or more thankful!

Love the slogan suggested earlier:  "Debugged by Trevor"

I'll try to think of others.

Thanks so much Deb!!!

"Debugged by Trevor" LOLOL -- I like it...

It also makes fun of those who would criticize my Engineering expertise:
