Hello all,
I'm putting a survey out here to see how many would be interested in purchasing t-shirts, mugs, pens, wristbands, etc. In other words we would have an MP store set up here, online with items that could be purchased for ourselves, friends and family to wear in support...with slogans for the MP, w/website address for the MP, advertising etc.
All of the profits would go towards
More and more sites are offering products for disease awareness and I can't think of a better way myself to promote the MP and raise money for continued research! What an icebreaker, to speak with others about the incredible work that is being done here on the MP!
Please send some feedback here on this thread. Also, if you have a business that supports this type of product, example personalized mugs, pens etc, I would be interested in talking with you first before going outside of the MP to purchase these items, should there be enough interest. Please contact me at flywithdeb@hotmail.com.
Thanks! I would appreciate it, if each and every one of you who are reading this thread would respond to me by voting so that I can get the temperature of the MP community on this one! Please feel free to add your opinions also here on open forum or by PM'ing.
Thank you and continued healing...!
Deb

Deb,
Yes, I would be interested in this new venture. Also, if I can help out in some small way (despite brain-fog) I will try.
Good luck.

This was done about two years ago by Amy I think, I bough some t-shirts and a college sweater. The quality of the products were good. see logos and details at Fundraising for ARF But back then they stopped the initiatve because many people felt that they would rather donate directly to the ARF...
But now, when the treatment has expanded even more the situation might be different...
They made some funny logos and drawings about intracellular bacteria, I'm sure someone can find the link to the threadt at the MP.com site.
I for one would by another college sweater if the motives was funny.... not only the ARF logo if you know what I mean... So I will give it a yes.

Hi Deb,
Although it seems this has been tried before I believe it is worth trying again and a good idea. It may be worth contacting Amy to ask her opinion. You have a yes vote from me and I will give whatever help I can.
Thanks for your continued efforts with MP.
Take care, Lynn.

May I suggest that on of the articles are designed as being a gift from MP patients to Mp doctors as a target market?
something like: "My patient told me I was the best doctor in the world because together we are curing chronic disease"
Something like that, any communication-ideas?
I also like the "you know you have th1 when....." series, it should be used in design one way or another as well.
Just to repeat the main message in my response in the old thread: Before starting making design/products: Analyze the target market and design products directed towards them, and, I think a humoristic approach will hit home well..

Deb,
I am sorry but it still does not work.
Anyway, you need a greater reponse, I have already communicated my support, where are the rest of the MP's??
Let Deb know what you think! (regardless of the voting) Are you willing to purcahse or not? What do you want????????
Personally I believe that its time to make all of us more visible through an action like this. Let us show the world how many we are!

OK. I hate to be a wet blanket, but I just can't get excited about stuff like this. I'm not into tee shirts and mugs, or celebrity spokespeople, or walks for a cure, or bake sales.
I'm focused on....educating myself about the ever-expanding body of knowledge that makes up the MP....supporting, as best I can, others who are already on the MP...answering questions from people who seek me out because they want to learn more about the MP...and getting myself well.
Sorry if I offend.
Carol

Well, I do like the idea of donating to the ARF and getting something tangible in return. Requesting the DVD's worked for me and it also satisfied the appetite for more educational material.

I dont see any contradiction with buying these products and focus on all the good things Carol states though. Why not do both?
Making the treatment more known through marketing in a humorious way, getting a quality product and at the same time donating to the ARF seems like a good deal to me.

Absolutely agree. We don't all have to put our energy and dollars into the same things.
The only reason I posted my opinion was because Martin asked how other folks felt about this idea.

Sure I understand you
I am not into bakesales either... have not seen anyone do that since I was a small child... guess people dont have the time for such ancient activities anymore, I mean, would you eat a cake baked by someone you dont know?? Guess the "second hand baked cake" market has plummited?
Judging by the (kind of lack of) response in this threrad I think one should try a very limited productline. Find one broad appealing supporting product, like a bumper-sticker or something, sold cheap for 10 USD and easy ordering. (PAYPAL), 5 USD to ARF and the rest for shipping, handling, production.
The companies offering these products are struggeling so chances are one can get a good deal and be able to process a small order of 500 stickers for a buck each....
Maybee people will not be able to resist the idea of doing some promotion while they drive.... put up a banner at the 3 sites....
The distribution could be insourced by someone with the time and willingness to manage an operation like this.
My current focus is my webpage, distributing the MP-science to scientists and doctors in Norway visible in the Media especially reg. chronic disease, vitamin D etc and my own theses + slowly working with an organization for the MP patients in Norway.
"If your'e on the Marshall Protocol - sound (blow?) your horn!"
something like that.... and maybee a funny drawing of Dr. Marshall

Martin,
My thoughts were the same as yours, start out with a couple inexpensive items, one that I would definitely want to go with is a pin. I wear pins on my uniform and would wear to work, great place to share the MP as I encounter at least 300 passengers each day I work. So that particular item is the one I'm working on at present getting quantity prices from various suppliers. If there are any ideas out there for a design, please be sure to post. At this point just doing some legwork for costs.
As far as comparing MP related items which will help raise funds for research, to a bake sale as Carol puts it, well, I'm going to have to beg to differ. For me, wearing a pin that represents something near and dear to me and the progress I have made with my health-- the MP--is something I would wear proudly! A reminder of how far I've come! ...and an inexpensive way to raise funds for continued research...

| I recently told my husband that when I got better I wanted to have a tshirt made that said something like "I beat chronic fatigue. Ask me how." I would be very interested in purchasing anything that would promote the MP and go to support the ARF. I would prefer a car window vinyl cling rather than a bumper sticker because of the more "permanent" nature of the sticker but I suppose a bumper sticker might be more visible. Tshirts are always good(short sleeve for our family members and long sleeve for us MPers!) I've never been one to wear wristbands or pins to support a cause but this is something I feel so strongly about that I would do it in this case. A necklace with the letters M and P would be nice(something inexpensive like a black faux leather chain with sterling silver letters). Pens and notepads would be easy to hand out.

Yes the herxing cat is great! I believe it is a copyright though which would limit our ability to have printed. I'll check it out though, great idea! I love it myself...classic isn't it???

I have permission from Adam Koford to use that cat cartoon for whatever purpose. However, it MUST be the original cartoon, not the "updated" version somebody made (which in fact does violate his request of "no derivative works")
I'm not a t-shirt or sweatshirt sort of guy, and I too, am just concentrating on getting well. A coffee cup might not be out of order though, if the price was right.

The original is about 5X7 inches or so, I might be able to make a better scan for reproduction. I'll try to get to it soon.
