First, somehow I missed your post, "Overheated". I hope you are continuing in your healing. It sounds like the hysterectomy was the right choice for you.
Welcome Nelda. I think you'll find that the MP will help in the hot flash department.

I am 53 and had my last real period in April this year.
Since then, I had a one day hardly there affair in July and have had nothing since, so I am presuming that I am probably in menopause now - at least I hope so,as enough is enough already!
I don't have flushes the way I have read about them, but from time to time, I get a sweaty neck(!!!). I have also been known to throw off the covers at night because of this, and then pull them back on when my neck cools off! If this is all I have had , I reckon I have been let off pretty lightly!!
I do use a low dose natural progesterone cream for three weeks of each month. I have spoken at length to my naturopathic ob/gyn, who is very pro the MP, and together we have decided that as my progesterone levels are low off the cream and only in the mid range on the cream, we will continue. I certainly have more than enough IP's on my slow phase 2 to know that the cream is not suppressing my immune system too much at all.
All in all though, I think being on the MP has made my perimenopause transition so much easier than friends of mine who have had to go onto HRT for their severe symptoms.
To be honest, I think this menopause thing is amazing, and I am looking so forward to the rest of my life without periods! I do not miss them at all and figure that 40 years of having them was plenty!!!

Hi Elisabeth,
I have been reading Immunology and Bacteriology books. I Know now that the left ovarian cysts are do to certain types of bacteria and that's what caused me severe pain and vomiting as a teenager, as did my mother. Then I went on to have lots of yeast infections and all the meds with that; which made more L-Forms. Inflammation (can lead to cancer which is due to a bacterial infection) continued, and at age 47 I had hormonal issues, was clenching my teeth (I would wake in the night with severe uterine cramping), a flushing head, very moody, vaginally dryness/on fire, severe fatigue, and eventually I had a Hysterectomy (they thought I had Scleroderma-10yrs to live until body turns to stone-bugs love c-section scar tissue). I have been on the MP 5 months now and my thyroid went from .87 up to 2 something, vaginal muscle tone/secretions/healthy tissues and tone/(IgA & IgG)are returning. Sarcoidosis was causing my Dysthymic Disorder and varying temps of 95-100.5 degrees (D hormone affected thyroid). My whole family is full of TH1 illnesses, so all the exercising, eating whole foods, drinking distilled H20, supplements, sun, prayer, psyciatrists, estrogen (sore nipples meant too much estrogen for me and I read it causes most of the breast cancers) and, valtrex (can't fight if white blood cells are infected with bacteria), paxel (more fatigued), surgery (nosecomial infection), standard mono meds (can't eliminate bugs), steroids (make bugs proliferate faster and in shorter time) won't help. Only MP return the immune system to normal and allow it to do it's God designed job.

Nelda,
I'm glad you've found the MP!!
I've posted previously on here re: my "hot flashes" and wanted to let you know as encouragement that mine have resolved (for the time being). I imagine that I'll have more before all is said and done here, but am able to see them as "progress" now (figure something pretty good must be happening when I feel so badly!). Sometimes mine would come on w/ a mood fluctuation, which was really a weird experience for me, but nothing compared to what you've been going through....
Again, WELCOME and look forward to hearing of your progress (and won't be surprised if that includes your Lacrimal gland also)!!

Debz,
Thanks for the post; GREAT encouragement - sorry for all you've had to go through!
I don't sweat (pun intended!) the period thing anymore. I figure what is meant to be will happen.
I am quite hopeful, however, that I will see significant healing/recovery of my low functioning thyroid (both my mother & her mother are hypothyroid). I was just dx'd w/ it last Nov. prior to my Jan. dx of CFS, so haven't been on meds for it very long (have been on MP 6 mos.).
Just saw my doc last week and had blood drawn including Thyroid panel and am anxious to see the results...!

Hi All-
I just got moved in to a new house/city and I survived, sorta, I feel highly depressed (a constant struggle for years) as I'm trying to get systems in place in the house so I can focus fully on the mP again. I think I should feel happy because I survived it all but here we are in a new city and I feel more isolated than ever.
That said I wanted to offer some insight I had on sweating:
at night somewhere around 1-4a.m. depending on the person your liver is doing it's
profound job of cleansing and filtering the bodies waste(? not sure what to call it)
It is common for your body to heat up substantially especially I would guess if you have
TH1 disease. Many people arouse at that time the liver is cleansing or after and feel a need to empty their
bladder.
I have sad sad digestion and I note I heat up after I eat processing the food, my
digestion is so poor that I can't even digest my food until hours later unless I'm careful
to block all stimuli and let my body attend to the art of digestion...lots and lots of
bugs in my digestive tract
Have a good Sunday everyone.

I just want to encourage folk.
I've been on the MP nearly two years now and I used to have terrible hot flashes at night. In fact, in addition to the regular flashes, I used to have what I called back flashes (just my back would get hot) and they would keep me up for 8 hours at a time. Flashing at night went away last year and then came back briefly, and is gone again. I can finally wear winter pajamas instead of just cotton bottoms or nothing. The covers stay on top of me nearly every night with only an ocassional need to cool off by removing the covers and not my bed clothes. I'm not even using my overhead fan constantly now.
It does get better!!!
Claire

Suecat -
As encouragement, I remarried last summer and moved to my husband's home in a completely different city. My health started dramatically declining ~4 mos. after the wedding & I was dx'd w/ CFS 6 mos. after. Between moving, becoming increasingly ill and trying to help my children adjust, I had very little time or energy to adjust to the move myself by making friends or even finding my way around the city. However, almost 7 mos. into the MP I can say that I've "adjusted" enough to feel at peace where I'm at - especially seeing the progress my health is making on the MP. All of this is to say, "HANG IN THERE!!". I have struggled w/ depression for years also and can relate to how challenging that can be. At least you have all of us here to support you!
Great encouragement too Claire (and so glad it's not disturbing your sleep anymore, as that gets SOOO exhausting! )

SueCat,
I had a flushing head every night around 3a.m. and thought it was hormone receptors that could'nt get to their receptor sights; that were causing hot flashes. I was perimenipausal and had a hysterectomy. The severe pelvic pain and night teeth clenching stopped. Body flushing would go on insidiously during school under incandescent lighting. In the spring outdoors, I would bloat like bread rising with yeast (I actually had white patches of fungus on my back) and I got fatigued when I golfed. If I biked, I would get an added headache . In the past year, of 14 plus infections and finally surgery; my path load was high enough to cause flushing within an hour after supper. Within a few more weeks; I was having panic attacks, fight or flight situations, sleep apnea, and hallucinating. My temp was 95 in the morning and by noon, it was 100.5 degrees every day.
After MP, my hypothyroid of .87 went up to 2.68 and the fever went away. Only on new or higher med doses do I get slightly warm every so often. My liver had a lesion and golf ball size hemangioma/tumor and Alt was 71 (for liver injury due to chemical exposure) and is now down to 24. My bloodpressure is not borderline high like it was during the panic attacks. My herpes virus and sinuses are causing very little problems now.

I trust everybody has reviewed Amy's presentation at Porto?
Note that the Estrogen--beta receptor expresses the gene for the VDR, and the VDR expresses the gene for Estrogen-alpha. Amy also mentions the Androgen receptor (both males and females have this). So the receptors are one big happy family, with lots of familial links. Anyway, enjoy Amy's talk:

Hello again.
I think I promised to come back and post if there were any new changes for me.
Now on the MP for 16+ months with a mod phase 2, abbreviated phase 2, and then a hop right over to phase 3 at my one year anniversary. When I started the phase 3 combination, I was dealing with a lot of inflammation from being off the Benicar in May and I had peri-menopausal style non-cycles since starting phase 2 in February. With those 'heat wave' symptoms coming and going all along that time.
I went in for a GYN exam in September, and everything seemed to check out good. Not really looking like I'm truly menopausal. Funny, a day or so later, I have my first 'real' period (sorry guys) that came after many months of nothing. And it happened again four weeks later. Huh. And all the 'heat waves' are gone.
Seems my body thinks it has the energy to 'spare' to run all those hormones around AND fight the evil L-form bacterial intruders. I'm going to wait a few more weeks before I officially declare this a trend. But it sure is looking positive for me.

Well the trend does seem to suggest you are growing younger!

Hi Joyful -
Thanks for checking in with your update. I too have been meaning to update here as I've had a similar experience to yours of late.
I am 5 mos. into Ph II, and after having gone through "hot flashes" + not having a period for ~5 mos., was beginning to really believe I'd gone through menopause. However, (MP strikes again - yay) last week I had a VERY heavy, regular period (sorry guys again!). I too am waiting to see what happens in the coming weeks/months, but will not be surprised if all returns to what it was before....
Elisabeth
