Does anyone like quotes/inspirational stories as much as I do? They can be inspiring, motivating, full of wisdom or just plain fun...but whatever they mean to you, hope you have one to share!
This one to start, is rather on the deep side but a friend gave me this when I was going through a challenging personal time in my life (in addition to the one I'm in... ) and I find it awesome. So feed that good wolf when you're not feeling well........!
Two Wolves
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith".
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf wins?".....
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I have three quotes I always always think of..
"A journey of a thousand miles starts in front of your feet"
- gets me through just about anything, especially when starting the MP.
"If you're too afraid to fly then you never will land"
- is a song lyric but rings so true for every leap or risk in life, in my opinion.
"A wise man never blows his knows"
- Totally irrelevant to the MP, but I love it. I am very glad Dr. Marshall blew his knows for us!

How true is that? So many never take that one big risk in life that could have made all the difference...I wonder how many walk away from MP for one reason or another because of that fear of committment or "flying"...when it would have made all the difference to their health!

Deb, Thank you for that one, as it reminds me of something I always say when some horror comes along. I was reminded of this recently when I read that most people ask "Why me?" As in, I have a chronic illness, "Why me?" As in, this person I barely knew tried to bring me down, "Why me?"
First, I've always had a "Why not me?" attitude. I mean, who am I but everyone else? The thing I almost always do is to say, "Next?" There is always something in life. There are no "get out of suffering free" cards.
This might sound like I'm looking for trouble. I'm not. I just don't believe in collecting hurts and dragging them around with me. Instead, I remind myself that suffering is inescapable--there's no way out; there's only through. And so whenever we stop to look any and all emotions in the face, we find, or at least I have found, that life is a lot sweeter, a lot more joyful in general.
Indeed, physical pain can be treated just the same way (this I know because palliation is not an option for me). Whenever you totally become what you are feeling (again, my experience), it has a tendency to melt away and what it melts away to (eventually, again, there's no "get out of grieving free" card either) is joy, which I keep making the Freudian slip of writing "you" instead of "joy." No doubt that is my message, at some essential level we are joyful beings; it's our birthright.

I have heard a quote, it goes something like this:
"It's not about what happens to you but about how you choose to handle it..."
I've always liked that quote and if anyone here knows the original quote, please post it! I came as close to it as I could remember. For me, it has always been how to handle things with as much grace as possible, no matter what the opportunity!
