Morag,
Nice! Especially your morning quote that you recite. It's good to remind ourselves that we ARE getting better! Keeps one from losing their edge!

Morag,
I finally looked at that greatday website and I too have now set it as my homepage. Better to look at that first thing before seeing the headlines of Yahoo blaring at me!
Thanks, Claire

Lovely website, Morag! I've bookmarked it.
I haven't at all read this whole thread, so I hope these aren't repeats, but here goes...
This quote is apropos to MPers, I think: "There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs." ~anon.
And my, what a long flight of stairs it is.....
This one's good for those of us who know people who would benefit from the MP, but aren't interested: "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." ~Thomas Edison

Sarah Jane, I've read this whole thread and it's getting so long that I doubt anyone would remember even if they have already been on here. I sure don't remember. I love both these quotes. And how right you are about the flight of stairs.

Oh, how I love the coveralls and work quote! That's a good one.
Today I am quoting myself. After days of deep reading and discussion of the MP info.... knowing that with my memory damage, I'll not remember what we processed... I am saying to myself,
"I have a good feeling about my treatment."
It's not long winded, but it lifts my heart each time I say it.

Ralph Marston has again hit the spot for me this morning, and helped me when I was needing a boost:
"Each setback provides an opportunity to recover. And each time you recover, you grow stronger.
The route to your goal is not a straight line. There will be many times along the way when you find yourself off course.
When that happens, it can seem like your destination is unreachable. Doubt, fear and apathy will take hold if you let them.
The key is not to let them. For as hopeless as the situation may feel, there are actions you can take that will enable you to quickly get back on track."

| Wow, Morag, this was as if you sent this just for me today! I tried changing my meds around and had a horrific time. Just getting myself stable again and had a couple of very negative days...of feeling sorry for myself, wishing I was completely well--instead of looking at how far I've come--and being thankful that I've found the MP rather than my pity party---silly stuff like that. Your post could not have been more perfect! Thank you, Thank you!

Yes, I know what you mean Deb, I think we all have days where we get temporarily discouraged by the sheer weight and duration of the symptoms. The more I get into the MP, the more I admire the faith, determination and persistence of the early adopters, our wayfinders and mentors.
I am able to keep going because they have lit and led the way for us. What a gift they have given us!

Joyful, I love the definition of courage! It really is essential when embarking on a journey like the MP. Those days when we wonder if it's all worth it.... it takes a lot of courage to keep on going. And luckily, it'll all be worth it in the end!
Morag, I completely agree with you as to how grateful I am for those who have gone before us, plugging away to create a path with some guideposts for the rest of us. And hopefully, we can also shine some light for others as each of us progresses further on our journey.
I found a quote that goes well with that thought: "The very best proof that something can be done is that someone has already done it." ~ Bertrand Russell

Yes Sarah Jane and aren't we all the lucky ones here for those who were brave enough to go before us with this treatment and pave the way for our health. When I get caught up in my own misery, I often think of those who we are all helping, who will also, follow us.
Morag, here is another great quote from todays Great Day...
Challenge yourself
Go beyond what you know you can do. And just like that, you'll know you can do more.
Go beyond again, and again. Grow past the limitations you've imagined, a little bit at a time.
Challenge yourself, and then do what it takes to meet the challenge. As you feel your strength increasing, resolve to add to it through your own efforts.
The way to have real confidence is to build it. Every day is your opportunity to make yourself more confident, competent and effective.
The skills and abilities that seem out of reach are really just a number of steps away. Challenge yourself toward them, and with each effort you move closer.
Push yourself beyond the familiar, beyond the comfortable, and into a higher level of ability. Feel the unique joy of breaking through your limitations again and again.
-- Ralph Marston

Morag,
I continue to be motivated daily by Great Day...again, thank you for sharing this wonderful link with all of us.
Today's post was, Ready to Happen. I realized how appropriate this seemed to me. To be grateful, especially when I'm not feeling so grateful. To be kind, especially when I'm not even feeling like I can be kind to myself when I'm not feeling up to par. When you stumble, to pick yourself up--probably one of the most important things we will ever learn in life. Life is never perfect. In the blink of an eye, we are faced with change that affects us. We face challenges that force us to pick ourselves back up and go on---sometimes these challenges force us to peel ourselves off the floor and go on---but that's the point and somehow we are stronger for it.
Enjoy!
Ready to happen
Be generous with your encouragement and frugal with your judgment. Learn to gratefully accept whatever comes, and to make positive use of whatever you have.
Give your love and your kindness just because you can. Do a little less analyzing and a lot more living.
Become skilled at quickly letting go of those things that don't really matter anyway. Rise above the distractions and give the power of your focus to what you know is truly important.
When you stumble, go ahead and get back up. When you're making good progress, be sincerely thankful and keep on going.
Recognize the unique beauty that is in each moment. Fulfill the value that is in every situation.
Real, meaningful success is ready to happen for you. Smile, and let it be.
-- Ralph Marston

OK, so I thought these could not get any better and here comes another.
When I read this daily inspiration, it brought tears to my eyes...for all of us who have been taking these baby steps to get through having a chronic illness. For each and every step along this path brings each of us closer to our goal...Wow, this really hit home!!!!
As long as it takes
What if you knew that you could reach your goal by taking just one more step? Would you take that step?
At some point in the process of achievement, the final hurdle is reached. What a shame it would be to stop just short of that one last obstacle.
Achievement does not require extraordinary ability. Achievement comes from ordinary abilities applied with extraordinary persistence.
You already know you can do what it takes. To reach any goal, simply do what it takes for as long as it takes.
It's really not that difficult to take just one step, to do just a single task, to make one bit of progress. And if you can do it once, you can do it again, and again, and again without much problem.
Keep the faith and keep up the effort. Your persistence will get you there.

Yes, Deb, Ralph Marston makes a good cheerleader! First thing I do in the morning is switch on my laptop. It gets itself going whilst I have a shower, and then Ralph is there on my internet homepage for the daily dose of encouragement/nugget of wisdom.
Next stop the MP pages for more inspiration and to see how my MP companions are doing!
So thanks to the internet, Dr Marshall, my MP companions and Ralph Marston, I have a great start to the day, no matter how my body is feeling!

THIS is not an inspirational quotation; indeed, it is not even a quotation but a headline. However, I am certain that it is the sort of headline that journalists lay in wait to write:
Chicken Backers Cry Foul
When I booted up my email, which contains the local headlines, that little gem brightened my day. In my little corner of paradise, it seems that there is a move about to bring egg laying back into the city (in a city that is located in what was once the poultry capital of the world) and an equally strong move to try to keep it out. http://www.dnronline.com/news_details.php?AID=39144&CHID=2
Never a dull moment. I hope the chicken backers win, as I see chickens in my future! (That's in jest, as I won't be eating many eggs at all given the D in the yolk.)

Here's one I found today.... "Having once decided to achieve a certain task, achieve it at all costs of tedium and distaste. The gain in self-confidence of having accomplished a tiresome labor is immense." ~Thomas A. Bennett

Yet another great one from Ralph...
What you want to feel
How exactly would you like to feel right now? Give yourself permission to go ahead and feel that way.
It may seem that you need a certain situation or possession or person in your life before you can feel the way you wish to feel. Yet the truth is that you can feel whatever you choose to feel at any time, in any place.
You already know how to feel happy, or thankful, or loved, or inspired. So go ahead and let yourself feel the way you wish to feel, right here, right now.
It's great when others offer encouragement to you, but you can also feel encouraged all by yourself. It is wonderful when someone expresses love to you, yet you can also feel the power of love even when you are alone.
There is no need to wait or to beg or to compromise yourself in order to attain a certain feeling. All you must do is choose to feel the way you wish to feel.
Go ahead and feel what you truly want to feel. And the power of authentic purpose will move your whole world forward.
