Here are a few from my favorite author, Robert Heinlein:

Another ingredient for a happy marriage: budget the luxuries first!
And still another -- See to it that she has her own desk -- then keep your hands off it!
And another -- in a family argument, if it turns out you are right -- apologize at once!
Formal courtesy between husband and wife is even more important than it is between strangers.
Don't try to have the last word. You might get it.

Well, here are some more...  enjoy.

Do not handicap your children by making their lives easy.

Touch is the most fundamental sense. A baby experiences it, all over, before he is born and long before he learns to use sight, hearing, or taste, and no human being ever ceases to need it.

Keep your children short on pocket money -- but long on hugs.

Never crowd youngsters about their private affairs -- sex especially. When they are growing up, they are nerve ends all over, and resent (quite properly) any invasion of their privacy. Oh, sure, they'll make mistakes -- but that's their business, not yours. (You made your own mistakes, did you not?)

Little girls, like butterflies, need no excuse.

To stay young requires unceasing cultivation of the ability to unlearn old falsehoods.

You live and learn. Or you don't live long.

All cats are not gray after midnight. Endless variety--

Always store beer in a dark place.

Sovereign ingredient for a happy marriage: Pay cash or do without. Interest charges not only eat up a household budget; awareness of debt eats up domestic felicity.

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.  Winston Churchill

I think of this when dealing with those not on the MP and then those who think we are nuts or malingerers who like to draw things out for the attention. Time will prove our decision to be correct and the best revenge is to live one's life well despite naysayers who are derisive.

Yes, very good point Juanita!  It takes great courage to stand up for ones beliefs and yet it is quite easy to do when we *truly* believe in something!!!

Interesting article about Bernie Mac...Pneumonia and yet docs reluctant to link to his 20 year battle with Sarc!

Mac has suffered from  Sarcoidosis, a tissue inflammation disease, since 1983. He has said that it has no effect on his daily life.

A representative for the 50-year-old Ocean's Eleven star insists he is already beating the deadly illness, and confirms it isn't linked to tissue inflammation disease sarcoidosis, which Mac has suffered from for the past 20 years.

Bernie Mac was hospitalized with pneumonia on August 1, 2008. Soon after, rumors of his demise had circulated, but were denied by his publicist. On August 2, 2008, a source close to the family said that Mac was in "very, very critical" condition

I'm going to post this in this thread only because I had made mention of this subject in my previous post...I was a bit curious about Bernie Mac's condition, as mention was made of him having pneumonia and a history of 20 years of Sarc, so this morning I did a search and happened across NBC out of Dallas, "EL news".

Here is the original posting of the lastest news on Bernie Mac--take note of the spelling of Sarcoidosis...

Another health issue for Bernie Mac. His publicist says the actor and comedian has pneumonia. He is hospitalized in Chicago, but his rep says Bernie Mac is responding well to treatment.

The publicist, Danica Smith, says it's expected the comedian will be released soon.

A few years ago, Bernie Mac came down with carcoidosis, a disease that results in the inflammation of the lungs. But that disease has been in remission since 2005 and the pneumonia he has now isn't related to the earlier aliment. Bernie Mac is 50.

Shortly after reading this I contacted the station manager via email and explained there was an error in reporting the disease name.  To my surprise I received an email from Elvira Sakmari, Executive Producer for the Internet and she not only corrected the spelling but said she would contact (AP) who had reported the story to have it corrected nationwide!!  She said she had never heard of this disease and therefore missed the typo, is it any wonder?? :?
Baby steps...Baby steps...

Wow!  Look at this on Bernie Mac!

http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/triage/2008/08/bernie-mac-had.html?cid=125362928#comments

Jen Hicks who is on the MP posted a great blog and asked the editors to contact her for a story regarding the Marshall Protocol.  Nice job Jen!

I  have sarcoidosis too. The Marshall Protocol has improved my life dramatically. The Trib should do a story on this amazing treatment for this supposedly "incurable" disease.

(Trib editors, PLEASE post this message. Many, many people could be helped by the Marshall Protocol, and please research it for a story. I am a journalist myself and would be happy to be interviewed for such a story.)

edited to say: Quote from an American businessman:

If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that I regard as being most highly correlated with success, whatever the field, I would pick the trait of persistence. Determination. I agree, Richard.  It breaks my heart to get an email from someone saying, 'I can't do the MP, I just don't have it in me to do the work.'  I understand.  You have to be determined to stick it out through the bad days when some 'wonder' drug could temporarily suppress the symptoms for you, fooling a person into think they are better.

There has to be something inside you, whether it's hidden strength or sheer desperation or known tenacity, something that keeps you going.  I think that the more one understands the science, the more empowered one is to work the treatment.  That's not easy in the early days with brain fog, eh?  I grabbed onto what made sense to me and held onto it tightly.  And was very appreciative of those farther along posting about their progress.

This family has quoted many of you for inspiration.  So THANKS!  :D

Hi again,

Sorry! I should have made it clearer that was a quote from Richard M. DeVos, an American businessman.  I found it when I googled perseverance, which is a key quality in life, I have found.

I would love to be responsible for that quote! It ranks on a par with Winston Churchill's rallying cry to never, never, never, never give up.

Persevere is the motto on the coat of arms of Leith, a town and port on the shores of the River Forth near Edinburgh . Leithers are very proud of their very stirring motto. So much so, there is a famous public house there, called the Persevere.

So I'm not called Richard and I'm not from Leith either!  I'm female, 54 yrs young, I live in central Scotland and I'm getting younger by the week on the Marshall Protocol!!

All the best

Pipistrelle

I just want to say "Welcome Pipistrelle."  Scotland is home to my favorite village: Peebles.  Oh how I would love to live there.  Claire

Yes...Peebles has everything and impossibly expensive!  I have been in love with it since I first saw it as a 4 year old.  Although living there may never come true, as long as I have some relatives there, there's hope that when I get well, I can get back to visiting and also going into Edinburgh, my favorite city.  It's a twofer!

Me too, Claire - Peebles has everything - stunning location, village atmosphere and lovely people - but unfortunately its close proximity to Edinburgh means eye-watering house prices - even in today's economic climate.

Ah well, we can dream!

Hi Juanita!

*waves hello as energetically as the bugs allow*

I will never be glad I had 18 years of sarc, but the silver lining of a very dark cloud is getting to know so many fellow MPers all around the world!

(Thanks again Trevor)

Pip :)
