Thank you all for the cheery birthday greetings .....This has been the best birthday I have had in two years....the first time I have been this well....and I have spent the day just overjoyed to be in this place! Two years ago on my 50th I was barely holding my own ...and now, most of my days are spent seeing my energy returning...It has been just a wonderful month---as I always spread my birthday out for the whole month...I mean why not?? At this age, we might as well enjoy all that we can...and I'm even more convinced of this today!!! I've received a most remarkable  from the MP and also from all of you who share so much of yourself on site! Thanks from my heart! Deb

Yesterday was my 49th birthday. It was especially difficult for me, because it's the first birthday that I've had that my mother hasn't sent me a birthday card. She has Alzheimers, and my father, who never really cared for sentamentality, is now taking over her care. I tried to convince my parents to consider using the MP, but they have resoundingly chosen not to. So I have to resign myself to the loss of my mother. And this has been one of the more clear indications of that loss.
I only got one card, and that was from my husband, and a picture that my granddaughter drew for me. None from my kids. No presents to unwrap, no birthday cake, nobody singing Happy Birthday to me. And I was at least hoping to see someone mention my birthday here. But alas, I guess I am too silent to be noticed.
(I realize that part of this is IP, so I'm seeing things in a more negative light right now.)

A Happy Belated Birthday to You! 
I have such compassion for what you are going through with your mom as we struggled with this disease also in our family for years. It is a devastating disease for those who watch and one that I would hope to never experience again.

To all of you feeling lonely and hurt on your birthday, my heart goes out to you. The last year has been a rough one for me too. The roughest on record thus far (and I'm not talking about the MP), and I've experienced a lot of trauma in life.
The following poem reflects my outlook on life, and I share it with you because it is my firm belief that suffering carves out more room in our hearts for love and compassion, and I believe that joy can be found (if we just look around).
Okay, it might seem a little Pollyanna (and I am not meaning to make light of the suffering any of us have experienced...suffering is suffering). However, let's face it, if we (or our souls) did not believe in at least some small measure in making lemonade out of lemons we would not be on the MP.

to smell the sweet lemon-vanilla scent of magnolia blossoms,

| Thank you so much for the birthday greetings! It feels wonderful to be remembered! I feel so blessed to be experiencing another birthday. I was sent home by my doctor 4 years ago (to die.) Thanks to Dr. Marshall and the MP board I am alive and feeling better.....I find joy in my life every day and will see the birth of my second grandson soon! My sincere thanks to all of you and best wishes for improved health....Sue
