I'm a new member and prior to starting the mp I did some research on clothing to wear in the summer becuase my body tempt. is already very hot with a low grade fever of 100.9 daily! So I found a site Coolibar.com and after reading some of the other replies I noticed that Coolibar's prices on summer wear were half the price as the others. I did order quite a few things and wanted to see if anyone knew how well this type of clothing really protects us? I also purchased a pair of gloves and still cannot figure out if the gloves are equivelant to the leather gloves?

Have A blessed day

I have been wearing the Coolibar gloves in summer since starting the MP, and together with Kabana cream on my hands, have found them to be totally effective. They are also much cooler than leather gloves, light and the beige colour makes them look less conspicous.

The winter black felt hat, is also great - stylish and with a wide brim, it is easy to spot clean and makes a real fashion statement.

Have just ordered one of the wide brimmed hats on sale and am waiting for it to arrive. They are a good company to deal with.

I had to cancel an order to Coolibar - for $20 worth of goods in their online sale, the only shipping option to the UK they would give me was UPS, being charged at a massive $70 premium, so the total cost would have been $90.

I contacted customer services to see if this was a mistake, but apparently not!  So if you're ordering from outside the USA, keep an eye on the shipping charges!

Hi Falisa. There is an entire thread devoted to CLOTHING you may find some useful ideas here.

Check also Dr. Marshall's comments on expensive commercial products not being necessary. Before you outlay a lot of money.

The best item of clothing I possess is a black lightweight but lined long trenchcoat. Comes with a hood. Loose enough to wear over sweaters in winter but light enough for summer. I chuck that over the top of my black clothes and hence end up with at least 2 layers. So far have not expired from heat wearing it. And it means I can wear lighter weight clothing underneath because the coat really does cut out the sun.

All the best. IngeD.:)

I wear a black leather jacket and black leather gloves in the worst of the summer heat (upwards to near 100 here).  Having a larger size (my jacket is too sizes too large and my gloves are lined in silk which helps keep my hands cool) in both cuts down on feeling overly hot when it is humid.  In less humid weather with high temps, I actually feel like I am cooler than people going sleeveless.

I do not understand why folk resist the leather as much as they do (yes, it can feel like a bit of a sauna in humid weather, but you can also go short sleeved underneath and if it is large you can fan yourself a bit with the excess material--they evey make vented jackets).  It really stops the IR.  I only wear a jean jacket or something like that when it's about 45 minutes to sundown.  Otherwise, I couldn't bear to be outside during the day in a jean jacket--too hot (too much IR getting through).
